Fresh Picked Thrifts, Episode 8

Usually I clean all my stuff before I photograph, but this week I decided to just photograph my freshly picked finds as is.

This week I was all over the place and so were my finds. It was a smorgasbord from larger items all the way down to my usual miniature finds, you know, the ones I can never say no to. I visited estate sales, thrift stores, and Goodwill.

Get ready for lots of pics. My BIG picture plan is to make it to 100 items in my shop, so I've been loading up on merchandise. This can happen if I can prevent myself from keeping some of it.

First I can officially scratch this off my thrift wish list- a vintage typewriter - but not only did I get one I got two!!!  Found these at a privately listed estate sale...how could I say no when he offered both for $15!

The one above I'm gonna keep. It has a cover with carrying handle.  Brother Charger 11 Correction in a dusty/powder blue. My 1st grade daughter was entertained with this typewriter for hours!!! Every household needs an old typewriter for this purpose alone.

This Blue Sears Citation, I will most likely sell in my shop. It works great- I just don't need two typewriters. Actually I might need want more than one if I find some other cool colors, like yellow or red :)   If anyone is interested in the typewriter let me know we can work something out before I list it in my shop.

Next,  from the same estate, I rescued this lovely pair - OH My... I mean OH Deer! aren't they adorable?!

So sweet, my daughter and I couldn't stop posing them.  They are marked Josef Originals Japan. They were found forgotten in a dark basement corner- they look so much better in sunlight. The fabric in the background is a twin size bedspread- screaming flower power cool in my favorite color- Green.

If you've been following all my fresh picked finds from past weekends I guess you can tell I gravitate to all things cute. These bookends are no exception. The top of each ceramic bookend is open- maybe to put a pencil, little silk flower, or how 'bout a lollipop.
How can you not smile after glancing at a face like that? They are marked IdaRumi- made in Japan.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and bought 2 old man hats... hey fedoras are cool even for girls, and especially when one is a Burberry!!

Does anyone know the best way to wash these? I am still undecided if these are a good thing to thrift. I was sold on the fact they actually looked cute on me and yes the Burberry label made me buy them. One day I may model them for you- when I get over my camera shy self :)

They don't smell funny, but later when I got home I started grossing myself out about the person who sweat in them. And I'm assuming lice won't live in them since there is nothing to feed on... another super gross thought. Yes another item my super clean mom would kill me for buying.

Anyways...here they are on my Twiggy Mannequin Head

This one is labeled Lock and Co Hatters St James Street London. They still sell hats - one like this cost 115pounds!

And this one is the Burberry beauty. Labeled Burberry's Exmoor Made in England.
I think the Twiggy Mannequin Head looks very smart in them.

Here come my usual small and mini finds, I can never say no to them. Maybe I should think of focusing all my Etsy shop items on vintage miniatures?

These may all end up in Easter eggs! Love the Egg men.

Goodwill bag of Easter goodies for $0.49!

The recipe box below is clearly a future upcycle project. It was a $1.99 find at Goodwill. Not sure what color yet. Any suggestions?

You guessed it....more small things.

I also found some books from the 1950's. Don't know how these sell, but I'm gonna test it out in my shop.

I bought the two books below mainly for the wonderful pics within... The yellow book is entitiled, "What to Do When there is Nothing to Do" by the staff from The Boston Children's Medical Center copyright 1968.
Scroll down to see some of the darling pics within.

Here is a pic from the 1950's Frosty book.

And here are pics from the book, "What to Do When there is Nothing to Do"
Oh No! this mom is frazzled because her kids have nothing to do!! She must be calling her therapist. What she needs is a vintage typewriter for the kids and a glass of wine for herself.

Here are some  ideas... rip up paper and make a mess of the cold cream, or how bout getting all the canned goods and cereal boxes and pile them up to make a fort on top of your sister- hahaha.

Oh the final thing I found was a box of fun and yummy plastic Christmas garland- It was hard to buy in very rare Chicago 75 degree weather, but I know next Christmas I'd be wishing I did or maybe not... meanwhile they will be stored away til the season arrives.
Well that's my huge haul of freshly picked thrifts- let's just hope this stuff sells or it's off to hoarder's anonymous.

I'll be linking this post to Thrift Share Monday , Flea Market Finds. , and ThriftyLove

    1. Wow- I just checked out your shop...200+ items- thats great! I just bought a metal storage shelf to organize my stock. You must have a good system of storing your items. I get blown away when I see some etsy shops at 3000- did you ever check out ric rac and buttons?

    2. Luckily I have an entire room devoted to my Etsy shop, ric rac & buttons must have an entire house! I am actually running out of room on my "posted" shelves & am trying to figure out just how to rearrange everything so that I can get a new "posted" shelf to fit!

  6. I love the hats. I'm sure you could have them dry-cleaned! Or maybe a hat form and dryer in your own dryer.

  7. You scored! I'm thinking maybe spray some lysol to the inside of the fedora? But I fear it might damage the material... I purchased one myself recently and was wondering the same thing (and I don't want to model it either, lol). I love the Easter goodies!
